What happens after the allotment?
As the allotment process comes to an end, the next step depends on whether you have been allotted shares. If yes, then you can expect Jio Platform shares to reflect in your demat account on October 27. However, the shares will list on October 28. After that, you can track your shares like any other stocks on the exchange. You can also sell or add more units to your investment.
In case you don’t receive an allotment, the money blocked for your application is expected to be unblocked on October 27. This does not require you to take any steps. It will be done automatically.
Considering the oversubscription of the Jio IPO, you should keep in mind that an allotment is not guaranteed. When an IPO is subscribed more than 20x, it means 20+ investors are waiting for each share offered. Who receives the shares depends on the allotment basis.
The bottom line
If you receive Jio Platform shares, you can track them in your demat account after the credit date. Once trading begins, you can see the stock’s price movement and volume activity. If you don’t get an allotment, your blocked money will be released soon, and you can still follow the stock after listing.
