17 days agoConsumer Watchdog exposes PG&E's $2 billion bailout blackmail tactics
Consumer Watchdog released a video on September 8, 2026, alleging PG&E is withholding $2 billion in ratepayer-funded infrastructure to coerce the California legislature into approving a bailout. Loretta Lynch, former PUC President, alleges PG&E CEO Patti Poppe misrepresented the company's finances, saying ratepayers already pay $19 billion and a 10% markup on all equipment and infrastructure. Lynch states ratepayers effectively pay 15 cents out of every dollar toward PG&E's profit and taxes on that profit. Consumer Watchdog has petitioned the PUC to issue an order to show cause, seeking either a refund or compelled spending of the withheld funds. The California legislature refused the bailout in its regular session; PG&E is now seeking approval in a special session.
